Ortho-Bionomy® at Chattanooga Class Schedule 2026
Phase 4 Ortho-Bionomy® Focus on Joints Course Description (NCBTMB approved provider for 16 CEs) No Prerequisites
This is an introductory class in Phase 4 Ortho-Bionomy® with a focus on Joints. The neurological and physiological principles underlying an indirect approach to care will be presented. We will address joints throughout the body including the pelvis, hip, knee, ankle, foot, chest, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. Cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal joints will also be presented and practiced.
Some ligamentous releases that Denise has developed, and over-rides and other Joint releases as taught by Arthur Lincoln Pauls, DO will also be included. We will introduce joint mobilization from an indirect approach and start to listen for joint end feel, bind and ease. Palpatory skill development needed to determine the preferred direction and release position at all major peripheral and spinal joints will be introduced and emphasized throughout the class.
This 2 Day Joint Course will cover the material from Chapter 12 through Chapter 16 in Denise’s book, “Positional Release Technique, from a Dynamic Systems Perspective.”This book will be available to purchase at a discounted price ($20). (Purchase of book is not required to take the class.)

Denise Deig authored the book, "Positional Release Technique, from a Dynamic Systems Perspective" originally published by Butterworth Heinmann in 2000. The 2nd revised edition was Published in 2006. She has taught Positional Release Muscle and Joint Continuing Education Classes to Physical and Massage Therapists on a National basis since 1985. Deig taught Positional Release and Movement classes in the MHS postgraduate and DPT programs in the Physical Therapy program at the University of Indianapolis for 30 years until 2019. She became an Ortho-Bionomy® Instructor in 1980 under the tutelage of its founder Arthur Lincoln Pauls. She became an Advanced Ortho-Bionomy Instructor in 2017.
Deig has an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Indiana University. Her professional training in Physical Therapy was completed at the University of California in San Francisco, in 1976. She completed her MS degree in 1994 from the University of Indianapolis. Deig has extensive postgraduate training in orthopedic Physical Therapy. Much of her manual training was carried out at the school of Osteopathy at Michigan State University. She integrates Indirect Manual Therapy and Movement Intelligence work into her manual therapy practice in Indianapolis, Indiana.
